The Louisiana Offshore Oil Port, LLC (LOOP), located in Covington, Louisiana, is the United States’ first and only deep-water port. LOOP is responsible for handling approximately 15% of the nation’s foreign crude oil imports.
The facility’s unique design centers on a radius with interior offices and corridors transcending the configuration throughout the project. The 40,000 sq. ft., 2-story facility is a pre-cast and architectural panel structure with a New Orleans flare and is constructed to meet Miami-Dade wind load requirements. In addition, the facility’s 53,000 sq. ft. parking garage features 100 parking spaces. The entire site required 283 concrete, pre-stressed piles driven to the desired depth at designated locations under the foundation per soil reports. In addition, the site’s tight 3-acres made parking, staging, coordination of sub-trades, and deliveries a daily challenge.
