Kelley Construction was awarded a contract with McDermott to construct a 62’ diameter elevated tank foundation at Air Liquide in Merritt Island, Florida. The scope consisted of pouring two, 2’ thick slab foundations (upper and lower) with 39 each 2’x2’x10’ concrete columns. The addition of this tank, which will hold 525,000 gallons of liquid nitrogen, is part of a first phase expansion at the facility, whose primary purpose is to support the NASA Cape Canaveral facility. Additionally, Kelley performed site clearing & grubbing, installing laydown area, and construction access. Despite numerous project delays, due to test launches and NASA related activities, Kelley was able to meet all schedule targets and budgets.
