In March 2015, Kindred Healthcare announced its plans to construct a new headquarters in Louisville, KY. The project consisted of new construction of a 6-story, 142,000 sq. ft. office building with 7th floor mechanical penthouse, as well as 11,000 sq. ft. of renovation to their existing building including connecting the two.
Kelley Construction was selected to be the Construction Management (CM) team on the expansion that began in September 2015. The project was located in the heart of downtown Louisville and included new hardscape to revitalize the block in front of the headquarters and features a 70 ft. long by 13 ft. high water feature made from Peribonka granite. The new plaza serves as a gathering place for passers-by and is meant to continue the tradition of the beloved Theatre Square.
The interior of the facility boasts 4 floors of office space spanning 98,000 sq. ft., large volume conference rooms, a new fitness center, a game room, and even a medical clinic for Kindred employees. The 280-seat auditorium features a state-of-the-art sound system and multiple video walls, and the business center is not unlike something you might see in an airport. The new facility provided Kindred some much-needed space and was slated to bring hundreds of jobs to the area. The project was completed in December 2017.
