Some local industry leaders anticipate having ample work for the next five years or more.
In Louisville and Jefferson County, the construction industry’s employment totaled 28,900 in May (the most recent data available). That’s up 7 percent from May 2014, according to data from the Associated General Contractors of America.
Employment bounced back in mid-2014 to its highest number since 2009, before the economic recession brought the industry to a crawl for the next four and a half years. And for the rest of 2014 and into mid-2015, employment has remained high.
